#ShareSavvy was founded at Battersea Park Children's Zoo in 2024 when the keeper and education team realised the impact that imagery of wild animals online was having on both the visiting and the wider public. Collaborating with zoos and other conservation organisations around the UK, the team began raising awareness of the issues faced by wild animals.
Since then, the project has grown rapidly, becoming its own organisation in January 2025. The team have presented at a variety of conferences on the subject, as well as at the All Party Parliamentary Group meeting for International Conservation. They are the proud founders of #ShareSavvy Saturday, an annual event promoting positive social media usage in order to protect species vulnerable to exploitation on social media.
